Tara Lavallee
(B.A. Boston College ; M.A., American University ;Ph.D., University of Connecticut, 2005) Adjunct Assistant Professor, specializes in American foreign policy, Domestic sources of US foreign policy, globalization, and US defense industrial policy. Her dissertation, "Challenging the Iron Triangle: The Changing Face of the US Defense Industry," argues that the traditional approaches to analyzing the US defense industrial policy process need to be adjusted to account for the fact that domestic actors are making decisions based on the opportunities and constraints placed upon them by globalization processes. Before joining NotreDame, she completed a three year tenure as the managing editor of International Studies Perspective, (a journal of the International Studies Association) as well as working within the arms control community within Washington. Her co-authored article entitled“ Globalization and Local Governance: Implications from Wal-Mart’s Expansion” has recently appeared in International Studies Perspectives (2006). In addition to publications in journals, she has been a chapter contributor in several edited volumes relating to security studies and globalization processes.
