Stipulations

  • Credits count towards graduation but do not fulfill Political Science major requirements. 
  • Interns work 6-8 hours per week
  • All internships are unpaid
  • Credit is not given retroactively

Requirements

  • Attend an orientation meeting. Dates and times will be announced.
  • Sign a Waiver & Release form before beginning the internship.
  • Carefully read the syllabus and the handbook you receive at the orientation meeting
  • Work at least 6-8 hours per week.
  • Turn in your written assignments by the due date as stated in the syllabus.
  • Meet with the Director of Internships to discuss your internship, your evaluations, and your written work.
  • Evaluate your work performance with your supervisor with a mid-semester and a final evaluation.
  • Unsatisfactory written work or work performance evaluations will result in a grade of "U".

Application Process

Complete the following application forms:

  • Internship Application Form.
    Available in 217 O’Shaughnessy or contact (arroyo.1) the Director of Internships for a copy.
  • Resumé

Schedule an appointment with the Director of Internships or drop in during office hours.

  • Bring the application and your resumé to the interview.
  • Discuss the internships to which you wish to apply with the Director.
  • Write cover letter.

Call the internship's sponsor to make an appointment for an interview.

  • The Internship Office will provide the contact information.

Register for POLS 35901 even if you have not interviewed with the sponsor.

  • The Internship Office will provide the necessary registration code.

Prepare for the interview!
Take your resume and cover letter to your interview.
Contact the Internship Office upon notification of the sponsor’s decision and your internship schedule.
