Justin McDevitt, J.D., M.A. is a 6th year Ph.D. candidate in American Politics and Comparative Politics. His research focuses on the political development of the collateral consequences of felony convictions, law and American politics, and higher education in prison in a global context. He has taught courses in urban politics, race and American politics, interfaith dialogue, civics, and the history of pandemics in society. He has taught courses at Notre Dame, Holy Cross College, SUNY-Plattsburgh, and Marian University.

Justin currently serves as director of the Women’s College Partnership (WCP), a college-in-prison collaboration between the University of Notre Dame and Marian University, and a part of Notre Dame Programs for Education in Prison (NDPEP). He is co-editor with Mneesha Gellman of Unlocking Learning: International Perspectives on Education in Prison (Brandeis UP, forthcoming February 2024). Justin is also co-founder and Executive Director of Life Outside Reentry Assistance, a not-for-profit organization that supports formerly incarcerated people as they return to their communities.
