How to get started
Please fill out the 2 page Internship Description Form and return it to the Director of Internships by fax, e-mail or U.S. mail. If you are just joining the program, the Director will visit your office at a time that is convenient for you.
Students apply for internships the semester before the internship begins. You will receive applicants' resumes and essays via fax or e-mail. Applicants will then contact you for an appointment for an interview. You decide which student(s) to accept. Please notify the student as quickly as possible whether or not s/he has been accepted!
Once you accept a student, s/he will contact you shortly before the semester begins to confirm and finalize their work schedule.
Details to keep in mind
Students register into the Internship course for academic credit. The course is graded Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory.
Internships are normally 2 weeks shorter than the semester, but other than that, adhere to the academic calendar. Interns must begin working the second week of the semester and end the second to the last week of the semester. The Director will send you the beginning and ending dates
Interns attend a mandatory orientation meeting during which the importance of confidentiality is discussed. Divulging confidential information from an internship site is grounds for dismissal.
The Director of Internships tracks interns' attendance.
It is the intern's responsibility to notify both the supervisor and the Director of Internships anytime s/he will miss work.
Interns are not required to work any time classes are not held on campus.
Intern supervisors will receive an electronic copy of a Mid-semester evaluation and a Final evaluation where you will be asked to give the intern a letter grade.
At the end of the semester, interns fill out a Site Evaluation form. Copies will be sent to the Intern Supervisors for review.
