On Tuesday, November 15, the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and the Notre Dame International Security Program will present Professor George A. Lopez, the The Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Professor of Peace Studies.

Professor Lopez's talk  is titled "Denuclearizing North Korea: Confessions of a UN Practitioner," and will take place at 4:00PM at the Hesburgh Center for International Studies, room C103.

Professor George A. Lopez recently returned to campus after spending 10 months working for the United Nations Security Council Panel of Experts for sanctions on North Korea. In this revealing assessment of his time on the panel, Lopez will address a number of inter-related issues, including the evolving dangers of nuclear proliferation, the manner in which North Korea and other states violate UN sanctions, and the prospects for UN success via sanctions to meet these challenges.
