Coming Together or Moving Apart?
How regional differentiation is threatening unity within States in Europe
Regional disparities in Europe are threatening unity within States since the economic crises. The talk will explore how EU, States, and subnational entities are dealing with this challenge by focusing on the recent Italian and UK experiences.
Gabriella Saputelli is a researcher at the Institute for the Study of Regionalism, Federalism, and Self-Government (ISSiRFA) in the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome. She has taught courses on law, citizenship, and human rights at the University of Teramo, the LUMSA University of Rome, and at the International Telematic University (UNINETTUNO). Professor Saputelli holds a laurea in law and a Ph.D. in Italian and European constitutional law from the University of Teramo and is licensed to practice law in Italy. In 2018, she achieved the national scientific qualification of associate professor in public law. While at Notre Dame, serving as a US-Italian Fulbright assistant professor, she will teach a course on the rule of law and fundamental rights in the European Union for the Law School and Keough School of Global Affairs.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
