Sarah Gershon

About the Speaker: Sarah Allen Gershon is a Professor of Political Science at Georgia State University. Her research focuses primarily on the incorporation of traditionally underrepresented groups (including women, and racial and ethnic minorities) into the American political system. In seeking to explain the challenges faced by these groups, Gershon’s work emphasizes the role of communication, campaigns and political attitudes. Her work combines research from multiple fields and relies on a diverse set of methods, including content analysis, experimentation, surveys and in-depth interviews. Gershon’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and published in numerous journals. She co-edited Distinct Identities: Minority Women in U.S. Politics and co-authored the 9th edition of Approaching Democracy. Gershon teaches courses on research methods, women in politics, and campaigns & elections. Visit Sarah's website here for more details.
