The Hesburgh Libraries invites submissions from undergraduate students for the 2020 University of Notre Dame Library Research Award. Due to significant feedback from students to both keep the 2020 award competition active and extend the deadline, submissions are now being accepted through May 15.
Faculty, please share this information with your students and encourage them to apply. This annual competition awards more than $4,000 in prizes to undergraduate students who demonstrate excellence in library research skills by using a breadth of library resources for their research projects, course assignments and creative endeavors.
"Students often tell us that they were inspired to apply for the award because their professor or an adviser encouraged them,” says Edward H. Arnold University Librarian Diane Walker. “We’re committed to working with the campus community to advance undergraduate research — this award highlights how students access and leverage specialized library resources, tools, services, and expertise.”
Who
Undergraduate students from every discipline who are currently enrolled at Notre Dame are invited to submit a brief essay describing how they were supported by the Hesburgh Libraries for a project or assignment completed during summer 2019, fall 2019 or spring 2020.
What
In an essay of 800 to 1,000 words, students share the many ways in which they used library resources, including but not limited to the following categories: Online Catalogs and Search Tools, Digital and Print Resources, Library Collections, People, Spaces, Specialized Technologies, and Programs and Services.

Friday, May 15 at 11:59 p.m.
