George Lopez to participate in live streamed War No More conference at UN Headquarters

On Friday, February 28, George A. Lopez, the Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Professor Emeritus of Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute, will facilitate two sessions during the 2020 War No More conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The conference is an initiative of the Committee on Teaching About the United Nations (CTAUN) and is co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations. The conference is “dedicated to honoring the United Nations on its 75th anniversary and to calling for the full implementation of the UN Charter, ’We the peoples determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war…”

Lopez will faciliate two discussions: one focused on Women, Peace, and Security, and one on disarmament.

Speakers throughout the day include 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee; writer, activist and feminist icon Gloria Steinem, UN Ambassador from the Republic of Korea Cho Hyun; UN Under-Secretary General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu, and many more.
