Anthony Maratea

Biography

Anthony Maratea is a Ph.D. student in Constitutional Studies and Political Theory at the University of Notre Dame. He is interested in the history of political philosophy, the political philosophy of the American Founding, ancient Greek political thought, and early modern political thought. His research is focused on the early modern foundations of American political thought and the influence of the realist tradition of political philosophy, including thinkers like Thucydides, Plato, Machiavelli, Nietzsche, and their American counterparts. Anthony earned his BA from Carthage College from the Great Ideas Program and his MA in Classical Liberal Education and Leadership from Arizona State University’s School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership. He has previously worked as an instructor in a liberal education college preparatory school where he taught courses on ancient Greek philosophy and American political rhetoric.
