Maggie Cielesz

Biography

Maggie Cielesz is a first year PhD student in political science at the University of Notre Dame concentrating in political theory. Her research interests include classical and modern political thought, civic formation in pluralist democracies, and questions of human nature and political authority. She is particularly interested in how political communities cultivate civic virtue and sustain democratic life amid deep social and political differences. Prior to her studies at Notre Dame, she taught English at the Ignacy Mościcki University of Applied Sciences in Ciechanów, Poland on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant. Maggie earned her B.A. in political science and philosophy from Baylor University, and she is an alumna of the Hudson Political Studies program.
