Biography

Colonel Meghan Cumpston is a second-year PhD student and a Goodpaster Scholar through the US Army's Advanced Strategic Planning and Policy Program. Colonel Cumpston received her commission and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Villinova University in 2003, and completed her Master of Arts in International Relations and Internatinal Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 2013. Meghan is a Graduate Fellow in the Notre Dame International Security Center. 

Her most recent operational assignment was Assistant Chief of Staff, G2, for the 1st Armored Division. Over the course of her 21-year career, she has served in multiple Army and joint command and staff appointments as an intelligence officer and has deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. Colonel Cumpston also taught in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy. 

Her military education includes the Air Defense Artillery Short-Range Air Defense Basic Course, Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Counterintelligence Special Agent Course, and the Source Operations Course. She is a 2009 recipient of the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award.
