Harrison Greenleaf

Biography

Harrison Greenleaf is a sixth-year PhD candidate specializing in International Relations at the University of Notre Dame. Within the field of International Relations, his research interests focus on international security, populism, alliance politics, and U.S. Foreign Policy. He is also a Pre-Doctoral fellow with the O'Brien Notre Dame International Security Center (NDISC). His dissertation, "With Friends Like These, Who Needs Enemies," examines how populist leaders manage their security commitments within their present alliances. He is also pursuing projects concerning alliance termination, U.S. military effectiveness, leader death and war outcomes, and the logic of sportswashing in authoritarian regimes.
 
Prior to studying at Notre Dame, Harrison received a B.A. in International Relations and Political Theory from Michigan State University. There, he wrote a senior thesis on the history of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian alliance. He also studied abroad at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Brussels, Belgium.
