Juan is a PhD Candidate in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. He is affiliated with the Institute for Latino Studies and is currently a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow. He earned his BA in Political Science from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
Juan’s work focuses on different aspects related to American political development and Latino politics. His dissertation examines democratization efforts by Mexican-Americans in Texas. His qualitative research identifies the causal processes that mobilized Mexican-American communities in local Texas cities to challenge local authoritarian political practices.
