Shasta is interested in comparing the works of Machiavelli and Kautilya to assess their possible impacts on their respective political climates and religious traditions. She plans to explore how political realism challenges and reframes our approaches to the value pluralism assumed by modern democratic society, and to explore the relationship between liberalism and multiculturalism. Shasta is a Presidential Fellow in Humanities and Social Sciences at Notre Dame. She holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University, and an MA in Political Science from the University of Chicago. Shasta spent the last year working as an organizer with The Public Interest Network.
