Open Faculty Position: William P. and Hazel B. White Center College Professor of the Ethics of New Weapons Technology

Author: Notre Dame Technology Ethics Center

The University of Notre Dame’s Department of Political Science (particularly its political theory and international relations subfields), the Notre Dame International Security Center (NDISC), and the Notre Dame Technology Ethics Center (ND TEC) are conducting a search for a senior scholar to be appointed as the William P. and Hazel B. White Center College Professor of the Ethics of New Weapons Technology.

It’s envisioned that this faculty member would combine substantive knowledge of and continuing interest in the development and empirical and theoretical analysis of militarily relevant technologies (broadly defined) with a deep understanding of the ethical dimensions (broadly construed) of technology, war, and statecraft. Given the intersection of this position and the work of ND TEC and NDISC with important elements of the Roman Catholic intellectual tradition, especially its just war tradition, we would especially welcome applications from candidates attracted to Notre Dame’s Catholic mission.
