Graduate Students, Emily Maiden and Mark Brockwa, had their article, "Parlez-vous français? Language and agricultural aid allocation strategies in northern Mali," published in the most recent volume of World Development.

A few highlights of the article:
•Villages in N. Mali are more likely to receive aid if leadership speak French.
•Aid to non-French speaking villages is distributed to those most in need of aid.
•Aid in French-speaking villages is distributed irrespective of need.
•Village leaders may increase chances of receiving aid by learning French.
•While using language is efficient, it may not target those most in need.
