The Political Science Department is pleased to announce that Susan Collins (University of Houston) will be giving a talk on "Civic Freedom and Reverence for Law: The Legacy of Ancient Sparta" on Thursday, March 22 from 4:45 - 6:45 PM in Debartolo Hall Room 140. Dr. Collins has authored or edited three books in ancient political philosophy: Aristotle and the Rediscovery of Citizenship, Action and Contemplation: Studies in the Moral and Political Thought of Aristotle, and Empire and the Ends of Politics: Plato’s Menexenus and Pericles’ Funeral Oration. She has recently published an exciting new translation of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, with Robert Bartlett (University of Chicago, 2011), with notes, glossary, and interpretive essay.
